Welcome to the WiRED International Filling Station

 

WiRED's Community Health Education (CHE) e-library offers medical and health information, enabling physicians and nurses, community health workers and people in underserved areas to address the prevention and treatment of infectious and non-communicable disease. All of WiRED's resources—online and on portable media—are cost-free to users.

 

How to download your WiRED CHE Library

 

Setting up your CHE Library is straight-forward and easy. A special syncing program allows us to minimize the amount of bandwidth needed to update the latest WiRED CHE modules on your laptop or thumb drive. Follow the instructions for your operating system and if you have any questions, please send an email to fillingstation@wiredinternational.org.

First Download:

 

To download the CHE Library onto a Windows-based computer, click the following link to download our CHE Windows Sync Package to your computer or thumb drive:

 

Notice: This download works best using Internet Explorer. Also, if you are running anti-virus software on your computer, you may need to turn it off temporarily to download the file.

• CHE Windows Sync Package

Double click on the file "CHE-sync-win.exe" and follow the instructions to install the Sync Package into a folder of your choice. After the software installs, you will see the following:

Double-click on the "sync-che-all.cmd" file, and a console window will open to show the sync progress. It will close once the sync is completed and you will see a new folder that contains the CHE Library.

 

Using the CHE Library:

 

To start using the CHE Library, look inside of the new "che-all" folder and double-click on the file named "index.html" which opens the Home page of the library.

 

Updating Your Library:

 

To update your copy of the CHE Library to the latest version, simply re-run the "sync-che-all.cmd" file (double-click on the file in Windows Explorer to re-run the sync process). The software will synchronize your library with WiRED's online library and update your copy to the latest version.

 

 

First Download:

 

For your convenience we created an Applescript file that you can run to download the CHE Library to your computer. Download (control-click Save Link As...) the Applescript file from the following link, double-click on the file, then click Run.

 

Notice: This download currently only works with OS X 10.7 and above. 10.6 compatible version coming soon.

You should see a screen like this:

Updating Your Library:

 

To update your copy of the CHE Library to the latest version, simply re-run the Applescript file. The software will synchronize your library with WiRED's online library and update your copy to the latest version.

 

 

Syncing the CHE Library from Linux is very easy. Open up a console or terminal window, change into the directory in which you would like to store the CHE Library, and then run the rsync command for the CHE Library.

 

 

When the rsync command is running, you should see a welcome message and a list of files being synced to your computer, as in the example below:

 

 

Anytime you would like to update your library, just run the command again and the new files will be downloaded to your computer.
