WiRED International now offers a complete module series on the echocardiographic diagnosis of rheumatic heart disease (RHD) in Portuguese. These training modules will be used primarily in Brazil, where RHD is a serious health risk.

According to the World Heart Federation, RHD kills or disables thousands of children and young adults in Brazil.

This Echo series resulted from a collaboration among pediatric medical specialists and WiRED International. The purpose of the project is to enable nurses and other medical professionals to understand the development and pathophysiology of RHD and to learn how to acquire and interpret echocardiograms in the diagnosis of the condition. An early diagnosis can mean the difference between a normal life and serious complications and even death. Information technology work involved in the translations was underwritten by Children’s National Health Systems in Washington, D.C.

All WiRED International’s modules are peer-reviewed and free to be viewed and downloaded from anywhere around the world.

Note: These translations were prepared by Translators Without Borders.
