Pauline Karani

WiRED Community Health Information Centers Project Manager

Pauline Karani provides day-to-day management of the Kenyan Community Health Information Centers. She ensures quality control and the proper functioning of each Center by visiting the sites regularly. Her responsibilities include coordination of maintenance, equipment, information and staff.

Pauline received a diploma in journalism from the Kenya Institute of Mass communication and then worked for three years reporting for the Kenya News Agency (government agency). She was also employed by DANIDA (Danish International Development Agency) environmental conservation program as producer of information, communication and education (IEC) materials for three years in the Taita-Taveta district. Pauline worked with communities in Taita-Taveta (333 villages in total) to develop district development plans for the same environmental program for four years. Her professional career also includes roles as a Resource Centre Manager for the Kenya AIDS NGOs Consortium, a freelance reporter during various workshops and conferences and a translator of written material from English to Swahili.
